Steven Eugene "Casey" Sims

Steven Eugene “Casey” Sims was born on October 6, 1951, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, to the loving union of Reatha Mae Watkins Sims and Andrew Sims. He was the third of four children.Casey came to know the Lord at an early age. Although he was not particularly religious, he expressed his love for God in his own unique way, living according to his own beliefs and convictions. This independent spirit was reflected in the way he approached life, embracing each day with creativity, individuality, and a perspective all his own.At just five years old, Casey discovered his love for art and began drawing. What started as a childhood interest soon developed into a lifelong passion. During his walks, he would collect sticks and carefully whittle them into figurines, transforming ordinary objects into extraordinary creations. Even as a young child, Casey possessed a remarkable imagination and a natural gift for seeing beauty and possibility in the world around him.Casey attended S. A. Jones High School, where he continued to develop his artistic talents. He became known for his artwork, murals, and creative projects throughout the school, often using his hands and imagination to build and create unique pieces. He graduated in 1969, carrying with him a talent that would continue to shape his life for years to come. After graduation, Casey moved forward to share his artistic abilities and photography skills with others. His creativity was more than a talent; it was an expression of who he was. Whether through drawing, photography, woodworking, or other artistic endeavors, he found ways to turn his ideas into something meaningful and lasting. In 1979, Casey met a young woman, and from their relationship came a precious blessing: his daughter, born in 1982. His family became an important part of the story of his life, and his legacy continues through the generations who follow him.Professionally, Casey worked for Calgon/Steris Corporation until his retirement in 2016. In addition to his employment, he shared his entrepreneurial spirit through Sun Graphics, a screen-printing business that allowed him to continue expressing his creativity and artistic vision.Casey never married, but those who knew him might say that he was married to his art. It was truly his love, his passion, and one of the greatest ways he connected with the world. He saw art in everything and possessed the rare ability to recognize beauty where others might see the ordinary. He often expressed his love for family and friends through his creativity, using his artistic gifts to create, share, and leave behind pieces of himself. On the afternoon of September 29, 2026, Casey transitioned from this earthly life, leaving behind memories that will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved him. Though his hands are now still, the creativity he poured into his work will continue to speak for him. His art, his individuality, and the love he shared will remain a lasting part of his legacy. Those Who Preceded Him in DeathCasey was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Reatha Mae Watkins Sims; his father, Andrew Sims; and his sister, Linds Lee.Those He Leaves to Cherish His MemoryHe leaves to cherish his precious memory his brothers, Zenophar Earl Watkins and Raymond Sims; his beloved daughter, LeTise (Traci J.) Whitt; and his two grandsons, Joshua Whitt and Jeremiah Whitt. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones who will forever remember the remarkable man he was and the creativity he so generously shared.Steven Eugene “Casey” Sims leaves behind more than memories. He leaves a legacy of imagination, originality, and artistic expression. His life reminds us that a person’s gifts can touch hearts, tell stories, and create something that lasts long after they are gone.
