Charlene Emerson, a beloved mother and grandmother, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Virginia Kulikowski and Papa Kulikowski. She was raised in Caseyville, Illinois, where she attended school and built lifelong roots in the community.
She later earned her CNA license and dedicated many years of her life to caring for others, working in several nursing homes. Her compassion and commitment to helping those in need defined both her career and her character.
In 1989, she married Joshua N. Emerson Sr. Together, they built a family that became the center of her life. She was a devoted and loving mother to five children: Tina Kulikowski of Jackson, Tennessee; Christopher Emerson Sr. of Jackson, Tennessee; Joshua Emerson Jr. of Houston, Texas; Tobias Emerson of Houston, Texas; Kindra Emerson of Chicago, Illinois.
She was also a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Josalyn Emerson of East St. Louis, Illinois; Joshua Emerson III of East St. Louis, Illinois; Je’Marcus Emerson of East St. Louis, Illinois; Christina Emerson of East St. Louis, Illinois; Christopher Emerson Jr. (preceded her in death); Brionna Emerson of Dallas, Texas; Cody Emerson of Jackson, Tennessee; Madisyn Emerson of Houston, Texas & Tanjalek Emerson Denver, Colorado.
Above all else, she was a loving and caring person. In her later years, she grew stronger in her faith, praying to God and believing in His name. She faced her struggles with courage, and those closest to her witnessed both her painful days and her moments of peace.
She was lovingly cared for until the end, and her gratitude, smiles, and words of love will forever be cherished. She will be deeply missed, but her family finds comfort knowing she is now at rest, free from pain.
Rest in peace, Mom. Your love lives on.
